Preschool Teacher

Summary of Responsibilities

Provide academic and social skills instruction to children ages 3-4 years in a classroom setting.  Create learning opportunities and classroom environments that are favorable to learning and growth based on a commitment that all children can learn.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design and implement culturally relevant, differentiated instruction
  • Plan and develop instructional plans, lessons, and other support activities to present
  • Conduct assessments to determine learning priorities and outcomes for children
  • Create rapport with children and caregivers
  • Collaborate with educational professionals and administrators regarding the needs of young children
  • Participate in ongoing and regular staff, team and individual professional development

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of teaching principles, practices, techniques, and approaches
  • Knowledge of child development theories and developmental states and needs
  • Knowledge of current trends, theories and technologies pertaining to learning and instruction

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel; talk; and hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and life and/or move up to 10 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include closeness and the ability to adjust focus

Education and/or Experience

  • Current MN Early Childhood Education, and/or Elementary Education with pre-primary specialty teaching license required.  MN Teaching licensure outside of early childhood will be considered with prior applicable experience
