• SCHOOL FACILITY BOND REFERENDUM

    On May 14, 2024, Martin County West School District voters will consider two bond referendum questions. 

    QUESTION 1 - $64.7 Million

    A $64.7 MILLION BOND TO BUILD A NEW PREK-12 GRADE SCHOOL AT THE CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL SITE

    Building a new school to serve the entire District will address the school board's priority of FISCAL SUSTAINABILITY by:

    • Addressing the aging buildings and failing building systems
    • Reducing the amount of District operated square footage (27,055 less sq. feet to heat, clean, and operate)
    • Designing flexible spaces that can be used for multiple purposes
    • Installing energy-efficient systems and having better insulated building envelope
    • Sharing of staff and resources across grade levels
    • Eliminating the need for staff to travel between buildings
    • Improving staff efficiencies and reducing duplication

    QUESTION 2 - $2.04 Million

    A $2.04 MILLION BOND TO BUILD AN AUXILIARY GYMNASIUM

    Building an auxiliary gym will provide the needed space for all academic and co-curricular activities, as well as provide the District with the same amount of gym space the District had before the Welcome building closed.
